Dr. Austin Gallagher is a biologist and entrepreneur. He is the Founder and CEO of Beneath the Waves, a non-profit organization focusing on shark and ocean conservation. His research is focused on advancing our knowledge of the biology and ecology of some of the largest and most threatened predators in the natural world, with a particular focus on large sharks. His work has been published in leading scientific journals and has paved the way for unique discoveries and real-world conservation outcomes.

Austin is also an award-winning speaker and presenter, having spoken at TED, Summit Series, the Smithsonian, and in front of audiences at universities, conferences, and corporations around the world. His ability to blend stories with personal imagery has been showcased images at numerous media-centric festivals worldwide and appeared in leading print and digital publications and magazines.

In 2016 he was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 List in Science and he is the first ever American marine biologist to grace the list. He received a BA from Loyola University in Maryland, a Master’s from Northeastern University, and a PhD from the University of Miami. 

He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Miami (Florida, USA), and a member of the Forbes Non-profit Council. He also works with a handful of brands to advance their sustainability goals and charitable giving efforts.
